The Hugs & Kisses Animal Fund’s 1st Annual Paws for a Cause Fundraiser
Sunday August 8th, 2010
At the newly restored Sportsman’s Lounge
12833 Ventura Bl.
Studio City, CA
Hollywood has had a long love affair with Sportsmen’s Lodge, and so many of the celebrities that stayed there were devoted animal lovers. In celebration of the Lodge’s 65th anniversary the Hugs & Kisses Animal Fund is turning back the calendar to 1945.
The year is 1945 and the old “Hollywood Trout Farms” has a new name – Sportsmen’s Lodge. The cast and crew of nearby Republic Studios are coming back from their long day of shooting movies and ready to relax. Over by the bar sit Clark Gable, Humphrey Bogart, Bette Davis and John Wayne. At the trout pond Joan Blondell, Tallulah Bankhead and Lena Horne sit with fishing rods baited with liverwurst waiting to catch their dinner while sipping dry martinis. Before the urban sprawl the post World War II San Fernando Valley was a quiet retreat and Hollywood hangout.
The evening starts with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at the Kit Kat Club, then Dinner at the Regency Supper Club while enjoying the music of our swingin’ big band featuring the hit songs of the day by Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland and Rosemary Clooney with a very special headliner guest.
Return to this beloved treasure in the valley for an evening of fine dining, great entertainment and cut a rug for a great cause. Profits from this fundraiser will benefit animal rescue groups desperately needing help.
